Office Cleaning Tips to Avoid Spring Allergy Symptoms

This spring we’re seeing an increase in allergy symptoms due to the dry winter and warm temperatures. You may have noticed this, either with yourself or your co-workers, suffering from sneezing fits and watery eyes.

Here are some tips to ensure your office is being cleaned for health, meaning it’s being professionally cleaned to a level that will help with allergies and sensitivities . . .

Ceiling Cleaning Service Growing Internationally

Ceiling Cleaning and Restoration is a valuable service that is taking over the world! OK, maybe not “taking over”, but certainly “making over”.  We spend most of our lives under ceilings and this area of a building often gets neglected. Ceilings trap odors, dust, grease, and other pollutants, looking worse over time and becoming a health issue.

The cleaning process disinfects and deodorizes ceilings, extending the life of the ceiling system and brightening the space. And at 80% less cost than replacement, ceiling cleaning should always be a part of a comprehensive green cleaning program.

Mold and Health Concerns Follow Worst Floods in Alberta History

As those of us in Southern Alberta, Canada, come through the worst flood disaster in history we are left with not only a massive clean-up but the health concerns that go along with it. In Calgary, High River, Canmore and other communities hard hit by the flood water, many home and business owners are contending with water and moisture that has saturated walls and foundations for many days. Perfect growing conditions for mold.

Sensitive Cleaning for Sensitive Building Occupants

Pregnant women, children with asthma, the elderly. These are all segments of the population that are particularly sensitive to cleaning products. Chemicals used in hospitals, schools, daycares and nursing homes can trigger allergies, asthma attacks and other adverse reactions to those with certain health conditions.

The number of people suffering from asthma and allergies is on the rise. An allergic reaction can be set off simply by breathing in a cleaning chemical with strong fumes. There is evidence suggesting a link between certain chemicals found in some cleaning products and breathing ability. The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences did a study showing a link between a chemical called 1,4 DCB (dichlorobenzene) and lung function. This is a chemical often found in room deodorizers and other cleaning products. Those who had the highest levels of this chemical in their blood had worse lung function. With the rise of asthma and allergies in both adults and children, there is now an increased need to customize cleaning programs based the sensitivities of those occupying the building being cleaned.
